Ask the Board

Questions may be addressed to the Board of Directors by any AHR member via this form or by email. The questions will be addressed at the monthly BOD conference calls and an answer from the entire BOD will be sent to the member, as well as published in the minutes, on the AHR website and in the Haflinger Horse magazine. Why are there no more sales reports?

The AHR magazine and website will continue to publish sale highlights (averages and high sellers) on a routine basis. The decision to no longer publish all AHR sales results in the magazine or on the website was supported by unanimous BOD decision. Full AHR sales results continue to be available from the AHR office at member request with a charge associated with providing the results. They are available at the sale itself for the attendees to purchase at printing cost without the additional charge for postage or office staff time….

What is the purpose of the stallion breeding report?

For the AHR office, it helps to verify if a mare was covered by more than one stallion. In the 2004 stallion reports submitted to date, a total of 14 mares were bred by different stallions on different heat cycles, and two mares were bred by different stallions on the same heat cycle. However, we are still missing many stallion reports – not only from 2004 but also from 2003. A few AHR members have expressed concern over the recent unanimous BOD decision to raise some of the AHR fees starting in 2005. We want to address those concerns and we understand why, at a time when Haflinger prices have been dropping, this would be a controversial decision. Raising fees for registrations, transfers, stallion licenses and other services provided by the registry is not something the BOD has done without due consideration and discussion.
