April Member Update

Dear AHR Member,

As we enter the fourth month of 2017, it looks like spring may finally have taken hold. In the Haflinger world, new foals are arriving and preparations are underway for the busy summer season, with warmer weather and more time to spend having fun with our Haflingers. During this time, much has been going on at the Registry and with the breed, so we are going to implement this member letter to try and improve our overall communication with members and keep you informed about these activities. ..

Futurity Announcements!

The AHR National Futurity has a new date and location! In response to the many requests by exhibitors to move the futurity earlier in the year, we have moved this year’s futurity up to the weekend of August 25-26, 2017! The Futurity will be held at WK Farm (Windy Knoll Farm), a privately owned equestrian facility only 12.8 miles northeast of the Ashland County Fairgrounds.

Additionally, due to the confusion with the office being closed and its change of address, we are extending the deadline for the mare and stallion nominations to the same deadline as futurity horse nominations and waiving the late fee for this year…..

Announcing Changes in Fall Haflinger Event

The AHR Board of Directors announces changes in October Haflinger Event. The Board has made several changes in the fall event, the first being the location. In response to requests from the Futurity exhibitors to improve the venue for the Futurity, this year we will hold the event at the Eden Park Equestrian Center. Additionally, the format will change with the elimination of the auction and the introduction of the Haflinger Showcase. The Showcase will allow exhibitors to show their horse in the arena, advertise the horse the horse for sale on the internet, all for one flat fee. The goal of this new approach is to allow Haflinger owners to access a new sale market and to support the all age auction sale in the Spring. Be part of this new event and get your reservations in now. See the AHR website for forms or contact Dave Ayers to receive a form in the mail. Watch for more information on the Fall event on Facebook and the AHR Website.

A Spring Sale Thank-You

The AHR Spring Sale is in the books, and although we are still calculating the financial results, the weekend was a success. As always, the Spring Sale represented the end of the long winter and a renewal of friendships that, like the spring flowers, have lain dormant for the winter season, waiting for a little rain and lot of sunshine to burst back to life. I would like to thank all of you that attended the events in Ashland last weekend as consignors, buyers or simply friends of our magnificent breed of horses. However, a special thank you is due to all the people that worked very hard to make sure that the weekend was a success…
